Today is the last day of June.

Tomorrow, the first day of July.

That means I'll be returning to work soon...sob..sob..

Too soon. If you ask me.

I still havent had enuff of Lil' Monster. Nope, 3 months of Maternity Leave is definately not enough!

Please ahh, 3 months to be translated as 28 days calendar (not 31 days ah!), including Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays HOKAY!!! I feel cheated!!!

Everything is almost ready. We've got the babysitter, had discussed with her on the arrangements. I've made the list of things to bring over to the babysitter's house. I've been practicing my driving skills with my Hubb beside me, incase I need to drive the car.

Everything is ready.

Except for me.

I will miss her...
...whining which would wake us up every morning
...smiling to me every morning
...morning smell even if it is the smell of susu basi. It is the best smell to wake up to.
...bathtime when she would cry and struggle when I try to put baby powder on her face
...snoring with me during the late afternoon naps
..."conversations" with me
...big round eyes peering at me during night feeds

Ya Allah, please give me the strength to go through this. Only you would understand.

My dearest Nurul, mummy will miss you dear!

This is Nurul at 6wks when she first started her "ooooh" and "ahhh". (Pls excuse the "Merlion" part at the end) We used to be very excited and would run to her everytime she start to coo.

But nowadays, every morning at around seven am, she would whine and cry until she gets our attention. Still in bed, we would wake up suddenly and run to her thinking something is wrong. With our eyes hardly open, we would

Check diaper - diaper ok
Check feeding time - not feeding time yet
Try giving plain water - rejected
Try giving pacifier - rejected

Clueless, we would ask her "What do you want?"

To which her reply is ... a smile ... and she would start to coo!!!

No more waking up late on weekends for us. Such is our Lil Monster!

Playing "mummy and good housewife" can be quite a routine

... feed, put to sleep, rush household chores, feed, put to sleep, cook, feed....

so its quite understandable that I feel the need to do something to please myself, yet being productive at the same time.

Yesterday, I suddenly woke up from my afternoon nap, thirsty for some craft work. Then I remembered the half finished diaper stacker which had been on hold for a long long time now. :P

Yap, the diaper stacker is all done now. And I feel very contented. :)

Stack 'em up!
Close up.
I love how the pattern on the Ikea remnants come together at the front.

The story goes:

This sparkling new Corelle set had been sitting in my kitchen for sometime now, unused and untouched. It was actually a house warming gift from my relatives, which I sincerely appreciate alot! However, I am already collecting my own Corelle set of a different design: Pretty Pansies

(FYI: Corelle is the "sister line" of Pyrex, the durable and long lasting dinner/kitchen ware. It is microwavable (heh...good for people who wants their food fast, with the push of a few buttons), light weight, chip, break and stain resistant (esp good if you have a hubb like mine who chips my mugs and plates ever so often while washing them! Or if you cook using lots of kunyit! For more info on Corelle, click here)

Sooo...after much deliberation I have decided to sell/trade it off to make way for more Pretty Pansies...

The lelong is for:

*Corelle set(16pcs)
*Design: Spiral (pls see photos)
*Set consists of: 6xdinner plates, 6xbread and butter plate, 2x21cm soup plate, 1x1L serving bowl, 1x32cm serving platter
*Condition: 10/10
*Never been used before, still in original box and packing materials (Scotch tape is from gift wrap)
*Not sure of the retail price but an 18-piece Corelle set is currently retailing at S$156 at Metro.
*Willing to sell it off at a price of S$140 (negotiable) or trade it for shopping vouchers worth the same value.
*However, do note that the 1 yr warranty by Corelle is not valid as I do not have the receipt!

Great as a gift or if you are just starting to collect your own corelle set!

So wat r u waiting for? Quick email me at roslne@yahoo.com.sg before the GST hike starts! :P

Thanks ya!

As Nurul was born barely few hours after my last Penthidine jab during labour, she had to be brought to the High Dependency ward 54 for observations right after delivery.

Initially, the observation was for 24hrs but during a routine check, the docs found out that her jaundice level was very high 360+. She was immediately placed under three UV lights to help bring down her jaundice level. They also took blood and spinal fluid samples to be tested for bacterial infection. But it was only after taking my blood sample that they found out that the high jaundice level is due to unmatched blood types. I am an O+ while Nurul is B+ (my Hubb is B+). The nurse explained that in the placenta, my antibodies must have attacked her red blood cells causing them to lyse and release the bilirubin that causes high jaundice level . I remembered learning this in my Poly days and know that her jaundice level will return to normal soon.

Nurul in HD ward 54

But still not being able to touch and carry her much is quite heart wrenching for me. In the ward, other mothers had their sons/ daughters wheeled to their bedside every feeding time while I had to be contented with twice daily visits to the High Dependency ward. After my discharge, not being able to go to SGH by myself, I could only visit Nurul once a day, usually after my Hubb finishes work in the evening. I felt deprived of the time spent with my daughter and treasure every minute of it. Therefore, when people told my hubby that I should not go to visit her in the evening and night time (apparently it is not "good" for me), I almost went berserk!

But 8 days passed and the afternoon that I received a phonecall from my Hubb saying that Nurul could be discharged, I was the happiest mum ever!

Now, although she is only 40 days old, she had brought us much joy and laughter. Our precious one, our "Lil Monster" (My hubb calls her that bcoz she cries very loudly when she's hungry, just like a hungry Monster!), our Nurul Nazurah.

Yesterday is the 40th day of my confinement. And so, as of today, Nurul and I are officially free from being confined! Yipee!

But ... since Nurul still have not been given her jab of BCG (she was warded in High Dependency for 8 days due to high jaundice...more of that later), Dear Hubb insists that it is not safe for her to be exposed to the outside world before it.

Therefore, the end of the confinement is not much a celebration eh?

Well, at least, I get to eat the ice cream that had been sitting patiently in the fridge waiting for me. Haha!
