it had been hardly 22 days into 2008 and already i am feeling so tired out. so much for starting the new year a fresh!
for a start, remember the secret getaway from 2-4 jan 08 tat i mentioned in my previous post? well, it wasnt really a getway per say. it was at a corner of the island, Aloha chalet to be precise. it wasnt really a relaxing getaway coz ...
1. my hubby still had to go to work on all the 3 days! and since Aloha is such a cast away place, i still had to wake up early!! to drive him to the mrt
2. we were lugging so much things there tat we had to make 2 trips for it, 1 trip fr my mum's place and another trip fr my place. and for both trips, the car was full to the rim!
3. i had to think so hard of all the things tat i need to bring for the Lil Monster. GOSH! i was not aware tat bringing a toddler away fr home would involve so many thngs, logistically! or was i too paranoid of leaving anything behind?
4. since my mum had forgotten to pass her house keys to my hubb, i had to drive her back on the second day to feed the cat!!!
5. lugging all the things tat we lugged there back home. it took a cab ride + car ride then another car ride

well, at least the lil monster enjoyed her swim in the pool. juz look at the way she splashes the water around.
i bet the pool water must be dirty or something coz the very next day that we are back fr the chalet, the lil monster had high fever.
her fever was 37.8C then it went up to 39.0C we were skeptical if the thermometer was reading correctly coz the lil monster was still her usual self at 38.5C.
then she started to stick her tongue out alot, whc i presume must be bcoz her throat feels dry or sore. it was quite scary though, her tongue could reach her chin!! and my hubb tot tat my upper-lip-rolling-up-to-my-nose-habit is freaky.
dont ask me for a pic of tat, its scary i tell you.
with all the talk tat lil monster resembles my hubb more than me, at least i can say tat she did inherit something from my genes, eventhough it may be the scary/freaky part...lol...
we brought her to the doc after a dose of panadol and was diagnosed with viral fever. he told me that it should clear in 4 days time and if by Monday, it doesnt clear, we should come back to see him again
the next few days her fever went as high as 39.2C and then it drops to 36.5C after panadol. I was so scared and insisted that we do something about it but my hubb read on our family clinic's website that we should only rush to the hospital if the fever reaches 40C
By Monday morning, when the fever was again 39.2C, we decided to rush to SGH instead, incase she needed to be warded. But the doc there brushed us off and told us that it is just viral fever again!!
By now she had developed a nasty nappy rash. The doc who looks like he can hardly bother, hardly opened her diaper and claimed that he did not see any rash appearing yet!
Hai tak pernah aku jumpa doktor potek mcm dia ni!So we were sent home with a wash and powder for the rash and more panadol!
All the while tat she was down with fever, she was totally not herself. When usually she will be running and climbing and babbling, she just wants to sleep in my arms, not in my hubb's arms, only mine. She became so grouchy and whinny. She refused milk, refused water, refused any food (when usually she would open her mouth to anything that we shove infront of her face). Her not wanting to eat made me feel so helpless. How is she to regain her health if she refuses to drink or eat?
Luckily her fever started to simmer down by Wednesday and just as I thought she was getting well, she had diarrhoea. Followed with rashes all over her body, face and even head! I felt so uncomfortable for her. I made barley water as advised by my mum and gave it to her.
By Friday, she was coughing and the rashes didnt seem to go away. So we went to the doctor again! This time round the young stand-in doctor prescribed a cough mixture and a steroid cream for her rashes.
Although the steroid cream was applied sparingly, the nasty rashes went off almost immediately. The cough was still there though.
And then over the weekend, she started to sniffle and it became runny nose. So off we were to the doctor's, again for the 4th time! This time round our regular family doctor, the friendly Dr Chong is in. He gave a new cough medicine, a more diluted one, a runny nose medicine and one for blocked airway.
By this time I was feeling so guilty for pumping so much medicine into my Lil Monster but I keep telling myself that it is for her own good, so that she could be herself again, all well and healthy. Well, today, after spending close to $140 on medication and doctor's consultation! (thank god for gabermen benefit! hehe..) she is all better although still a bit of runny nose and cough but she is back to her usual antics.
There you go so much to tackle in the new year, and it is not even a mth! And this is on top of work sh*t issues. The ugly creature is at back to work again, back-stabbing...sigh...
p/s cant believe I took 3 days to complete the whole entry. But it is a looong entry...
