Lil' Baby had not been as
active for the past one wk.
Active- Involves continuous, rigorous kicking and turning especially around meal times and after 10pm everynight, without fail.Lil' Baby is still turning around, although much lesser, but definately no more kicking.
We got worried. So since its Tuesday-the day my docs is in, we decided to drop by and solve this worry.
We came prepared with reading materials, for the long waiting time as our appointment is only due a wk later, and so I am sure that we would have to wait till all scheduled appointments were over. But we were caught by surprise when our number flashed on the screen just as we were getting settled into our seats.
Dr Yu was looking very calm today, unlike in our previous visit. As we raised our concern, she was very comforting and reassuring. She did a scan and confirmed that Lil' Baby is well developed and that we dont have to worry. The placenta was on top of Lil' Baby, sort of like a cushion. Dr Yu said maybe that is the reason why I am not feeling the kicks as much a I used to as the Placenta is cushioning the kicks. She tried for sometime to get Lil' Baby to move but Lil' Baby was not co-operating.
Suddenly, we saw Lil' Baby moving her lips, in a sucking motion. Dr Yu was so excited- she had not seen this before on a 2-D scan. She called upon my Hubb and the nurses and there were squeals of excitement. I could see Lil' Baby's lips and nose quite clearly-flat, broad nose that looks more like mine rather than dear Hubb. My hubb tu hidung dia ada mancung sikitlah, maklumlah, ada darah orang Bugis. I ni darah Jawa tapi dah cair dah...
But just to confirm Lil' Baby's movement, Dr Yu sent me to to the Labour ward to do some tests. For 20mins, two round sensors were placed on my tummy to trace Lil' Baby's heartbeat and movements at the same time. I can't believe that I am actually lying on a Labour Ward bed, in a similar room that I will be giving birth to Lil' Baby to in a couple of wks!
Dr Yu confirmed that Lil Baby is moving and is well. No need for any worry- she said. She also gave me a Count-to-Ten chart where you track the number of movements made in a 12hr period. If the count is 10 or more in the 12hr period, it is fine and ok. But if its lesser, now that calls for concern and immediate attention.
Lil' Baby made more than 10 movements in that 20 mins test...Heh..so no cause for concern there.... What a relief!
